thirteen neighborhoods,
endless opportunities...
meet the neighboorhoods
-
The Circles
Tucked just west of Neil Avenue, The Circles are named after their four adorable circle pocket parks in each intersection. Although not a historic district, many of these homes were built before the 1900’s in the victorian era. If you like architecture, take a stroll here.
-
Dennison Place
This is the place to impress your date with food and cocktails. You can also get your haircut from one of the salon services in the neighborhood and get great cup of coffee inside a former sanctuary of a historic church.
-
Glen Echo
At the very northern edge of the district, Glen Echo sits on a natural ravine. Become an explorer and find the bird tunnel to see the painted mural and enjoy the reprieve of nature all while still in the heart of a dense urban environment.
-
Indianola Terrace
This residential neighborhood is mostly known as being one of the two major off-campus residential areas of the University District. A place filled with nostalgia and stories from Ohio State alumni old and new. If you’ve never experienced college football tailgating, this is the place to be in the fall.
-
Indianola Forest
The smaller of the two off-campus residential neighborhoods, some could argue this is one of the most desired spots to live as a student due to its proximity to an iconic pizza shop attached to a tried and true campus bar. Just be careful, you might get lost in what’s known as the Bermuda Triangle in this part of the district.
-
Iuka Ravine
This residential neighborhood is a designated historic district where actual historians live along with faculty members, young families, and of course. college students. Walk along the Iuka Ravine to admire historic homes and feel the quiet comfort of nature.
-
Necko
NECKO is actually an acronym describing all of the streets in the neighborhoods: Neil. Eighth. Cannon. King. Olentangy.
-
Northwood Park
Tucked inside Old North, you’ll find Northwood Park one of two historic districts within the University District. Stroll down these residential streets to see the preserved architecture of the houses in the area.
-
Old North
Old North’s character is unassuming - you can go to a laundromat and see a punk show at the same time. This neighborhood is filled with hidden gems. We suggest you ask a local where to find the square pizza after catching a comedy show at the Nest Theater.
-
Peach District
So it goes, this is kinda a made up neighborhood, but either way it’s stuck. Come to the Peach District for local tacos and corporate tacos, the local metropolitan library, and a the last few standing campus dive bars on High Street.
-
SoHud
Funky & irreverent SoHud stands for “South of Hudson” it’s home to an annual April Fools Day Parade and where you can find a myriad of live music, local shops, and the growing SoHud Flea Market.
-
Tuttle Park
You would never know that one of the best skate parks in the city is at Tuttle Park. Located on the western edge of the district, you can hop on the bike path of the Olentangy, watch a cricket game, go to a class at the Community Recreation Center or take a swim at the Tuttle Park Pool in the summer.
-
Weinland Park
One of the largest neighborhoods in the University District, Weinland Park has experienced the most amount of development within the 15 years.
