  • Arris Cohen

Arris Cohen, known as Sir’ra, is a Cleveland born, Columbus based, classically trained visual artist who has been working professionally since the onset of the pandemic. His artistic vision is based in the diaspora and telling the story of his creative journey as African-American. Using vibrant colors and geometric shapes with melanated peoples as his primary subject matter, his paintings reflect Afrofuturism and Afro Surrealism. His love for painting has recently expanded to large scale murals and continues to diversify as he has been afforded the opportunity to teach and give back to communities that are more than similar to that from which he grew.

  • Ayuka Shichinohe

I am a Columbus based painter/mural artist passionate about spreading creativity and color throughout the city of Columbus to bring communities together. My cultural background plays a key role in shaping my perspective, driving me to create inclusive and diverse designs that reflect the richness of different experiences and work that's full of life!

  • Haadia Hyder

Haadia Hyder is an artist from Columbus. She is currently working towards a degree in Public Management, Leadership, and Policy at The Ohio State University. A self taught artist, her work is constantly evolving, but always serves as a manifestation of processing, honoring, and exploring the world around and within her. When she's not making art or writing a paper, you'll find her exploring the city, reading a book at a local coffee shop, or catching a movie with friends.

  • DJ Crys Classics

DJ Crys Classics is a master of making people feel good and taking them on a musical journey. By utilizing smooth blends, mashups, and hyping the crowd with her energetic personality both as an MC and DJ, followed by her infectious DJ booth dance moves; Classics shines on stage as a true performer.

  • Graveyard Pete & The New Appalachian Sound

Multi and many genre influences and our sound falls into the Folkrock genre more than there's not any other way to describe it. We're a blend of American roots music. We're folk, blues, jazz, rock and country. Americana, I suppose with a high energy live performance.

  • Jeffrey F. Tobin

I'm inspired by artists who are both storytellers and know how to write strong melodies -- Randy Newman, Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett, Rickie Lee Jones, folks like that. I'm also inspired by bands who rock also tell stories like Tom Petty, Wilco and Dawes.

My particular style has been described as quirky, funny and thoughtful. I realize most audiences just wanna have fun, so I try to communicate my ideas with a smile.

  • MUDD

4-piece alternative rock band from Columbus comes together to create a sound that is very groovy and jammy at times, but also laid back and psychedelic at other times.

  • Pantomime

Pantomime is a five-piece group from Columbus, Ohio. We take heavy inspiration from bands such as Foxing, , Capstan, The Hotelier, and Movements - as well as other bands more local to the Columbus scene, such as Guest House and YAAMC.

  • The Esteems

We are an indie rock band who sing original music. We pull from real life experiences to draw in crowds with our lyrics. We have 5 members in our band.

  • The San Francisco Threesome

Fans of GBV, Pixies, R.E.M, DEVO, We're a Columbus Indie-Blues-Rock trio. Our drummer plays a keyboard also.

  • Tollcross Lane

    We are a four-piece blues/rock band
playing classics from the 60s and
70s. Our set covers a range of artists
from Tom Petty to Santana to the
Allman Brothers, with plenty of crowd
    pleasers. Our goal together has
always been to have fun playing the
music that inspired us to pick up our
    instruments in the first place.

 FAQs

  • The Pearl Jam is a new block party on September 6th & 7th at University Square in the heart of the University District.

Found at the corner of East 15th and North High, the festival will take over the iconic Pearl Alley for two days of art, music, and community.

While it’s obvious that the block party is named after the coolest alley in Columbus…bringing your flannel, ripped jeans and angst is completely optional.

  • Local artists will be live painting murals on trash dumpsters - adding to thirteen other artistic dumpsters found along Pearl as part of the Trash 2 Treasure initiative.

University Square stage will play host to a steady line-up of local musicians.

Browse vintage clothing and other wares by the SoHud Collective.

Grab a bite from a nearby restaurant or food truck.

Enjoy a beverage from a local brewery.

  • The University District Organization conducted community surveys and talked with individuals about the University District. A common theme was how the district has an underlying thread of hidden creativity that generally goes unseen by the rest of Columbus. Against the backdrop of Ohio State University there is a thriving hidden neighborhood culture of creativity. So why not bring that culture to the forefront and at the front door of the university! Fall is a perfect time to be in Columbus, so why not have an event to celebrate all that is good!? Come to University Square to experience the unique intersection of creativity, sports, and community.
