Drive Another Day Campaign

The University District SID has launched the Drive Another Day campaign to prevent thefts of automobiles from delivery drivers. The SID Stewards have often observed drivers leaving their vehicles curbside and running while they retrieve an order from a restaurant inside. With plunging temperatures and drivers wanting to conduct a quick turnaround, this can be a tempting thing to do.

It only takes seconds for someone to hop in an unattending vehicle and drive away. The best defense to prevent this is to turn off a vehicle, take the keys out of the ignition, and lock the car. Fortunately this also only takes seconds to do and will help deter would be thiefs in the long run.

The SID Stewards will be talking with drivers they see leaving their vehicles running and speading the word to the restaurants they pick-up at. Please contact the SID Steward Hotline at 614-395-1600 to report any potential safety tips.
