New "Outside the Box" Mural Wraps!
The new traffic box wraps are finally finished! Full of color and vibrant personality, these traffic boxes, which contain the “brains” of the traffic signals, have been transformed in artful objects in the streetscape. Walk, bike, or drive down North High Street in the Unviersity District to experience these firsthand!
A collaborative effort, the success of this project goes to the artists, sponsoring business partners, and Clean Slate Group, which printed and installed the vinyl wraps. Specifically, a big thanks to our selected artists whose hard work and “outside the box” thinking have dramatically improved the appearance of these boxes. If you enjoy these, show some love to the artists below:
Box 1: High and Lane: Katie Shipman (@authorshipman)
Box 2: High and Chittenden: Brooke Zamudio (@flux_white)
Box 3: High and E. 11th: Melissa Block (@meldoesarchitecture)
Box 4: High and Gateway Plaza: Khalia Carr & Tyler Davis (@jellowfever)
Box 5: High and E. 9th: Katie Golonka (@cherryalleypaint)
Box 6: High and W. Norwich: Dana Harper (@danalynnharper)
All artists were chosen from an open call and conceptual submissions. If you’d like to get involved, keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities through Facebook and Instagram. The University District Organization will be searching for artists to get involved with future projects. Lastly, be sure to tag us on Instagram (@universitydistrict) if you take any great shots of these boxes with #outsidethebox
