Concrete Words
Project Details: ‘Concrete Words'
The intent of the ‘Concrete Words’ is to highlight the community's input for art projects which use landscape materials and is interactive. The stacked concrete blocks were planted with hardy succulents for the hot summer and will transition to winter-friendly plants when the weather gets cooler. Plants were provided by the adjacent shop, Botanica 215. The project was assembled by Ohio State University students participating in the Pay It Forward: Community Commitment Day. A "revealing" poem appears at the feet of the sitting area when the plants are watered. Go try it out for yourself!
Meet the Author: Nancy Kangas
My poetry has been published in print and online publications including Cap City Poets and Exquisite Corpse. I write a poetry column for Ohio Edit, “Slides (Interpreted by Nancy),” and a monthly humor feature for the children’s magazine, Muse.
On this spot she heard the katydids screech the branches above, and as they ratcheted up the chaos, she said,“Why doesn’t Kyle have even half the pang as do these bugs?”
