Spring Construction Updates
In early April, crews with Shelly and Sands are expected to begin removal of existing trees along High St. from W. Starr Ave./E. Second Ave. to E. Ninth Ave. Tree removal at the beginning of sidewalk work allows a walkable path to be maintained for pedestrians throughout construction. New trees will be planted during the planting season after sidewalk work is complete.
Sidewalk on the east side of High Street, between 13th and 14th Avenue will be closed through mid-March. Businesses in the surrounding area will remain open and accessible. Signage will be posted to direct pedestrians to the west side of High Street during this time. The closures support utility work required for 15+HIGH construction. You can download a map of street closures and pedestrian routes HERE (pdf).
Water Main work on Arcadia Ave is nearly complete. All services are transferred to the new main, and the contractor is currently removing old valve boxes and fire hydrants. The final tie-in at Arcadia and Indianola was conducted Saturday, March 8th, with southbound traffic on Indianola detoured to High then Hudson in the meantime. Northbound traffic will have a left turn restriction onto Arcadia. Street restoration, to include new curb, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and full-width paving, to be completed by Deapartment of Public Service, will start up in April with expected completion in June.
