Community Character Enhancement Plan Launches

UDO

The University District Community Character Enhancement Plan will develop a strategy for the University District to showcase and celebrate its unique character and culture through public art, placemaking, and creative projects. The University District Organization (UDO) will be coordinating with other University District partners such as the University Area Commission, Campus Partners, Wild Goose Creative, civic groups, businesses, and local artists to produce the plan.

The planning process will incorporate public engagement and analysis of the current and past conditions of the neighborhood. Throughout the process, the public will be asked to contribute their stories from the neighborhood at specific workshops that focus on the history, culture, music, performing arts, and visual arts of the area.

To kickoff the Community Character Enhancement Plan, the neighborhood is invited to an open house that will give an overview of the project.  The open house will be held April 12th, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Indianola Church of Christ.

More information can be found on the project's website: universitydistrict.org/character
