    Campus Partners

  • The Ohio State University incorporated Campus Partners for Community Urban Redevelopment in January 1995 to promote improvements to the neighborhoods around Ohio State's Columbus campus. We have worked with the City of Columbus, neighborhood organizations and the university itself to prepare a comprehensive revitalization plan for these neighborhoods, known as the University District. Together, we are working to implement the recommendations contained in this plan.

    Neighborhood Services, Inc.

  • Neighborhood Services Inc. (NSI) provides food, emergency assistance, friendly counsel, reliable referrals and faithful advocacy for the needy neighbors in the Ohio State University district neighborhoods.

NSI was founded in 1965 by churches in the OSU area who became aware of the growing needs of its nearby neighbors. From humble beginnings, NSI has grown into one of the largest food pantries in Columbus.

The working poor, especially those with children, are forced to turn to food pantries to help make ends meet.

With your help, NSI serves more than 700 people each month with food, clothing and other assistance. Nearly 40% of those we help are children. Their education is critical for an escape from poverty. For that reason, NSI offers programs for school supplies and new school clothing.

    University Area Commission

  • The University Area Commission was established by Columbus City Council in 1972 in accordance with Chapter 3313 of the Columbus City Zoning Code, Area Commissions: Procedure for Establishment. The University Area Commission is bounded on the north by the centerline of Glen Echo Ravine, on the east by the centerline of the railroad right-of-way immediately east of Indianola Avenue, on south by the centerline of Fifth Avenue, and on the west by the Olentangy River, with each line extended as necessary so as to intersect with adjacent boundaries. Please click here to view a map of the University Area Commission boundries.

Chapter 3109 of the Columbus City Zoning Code states the purpose of the Area Commission as: "...to afford additional voluntary citizen participation in decision-making in an advisory capacity and to facilitate communication, understanding, and cooperation between neighborhood groups, city officials, and developers." It then goes on to outline the functions and duties of the Area Commission. Please click here to view the code.
